Daily Thought: Time

by Jeremy on May.20, 2006, under Daily Thoughts

A very wise man once told me “when you are early, you are on time … when you are on time, you are late” … I still believe those words are true. Over half of the development team made it into the meeting location early. I’m a very happy guy, this afternoon.

Daily Thought: Creativity

by Jeremy on May.19, 2006, under Daily Thoughts

I used to do a lot of writing. Those of you who happen to have known me as long as the Games Unlimited age would know that I wrote a good amount of fan fiction, too. (Spoiler: I’m working on some new GU stuff, in my spare time.) I’d like to think I’m a good writer, but I really hate days (like today) when my creative muscles won’t respond to me. Oh, well… I guess I’ll go hammer down that list of discussion topics for tomorrow’s development team meeting.

Dual Monitor, Revisited

by Jeremy on May.18, 2006, under Uncategorized

So, my brother wants me to help him pay for something he really wants … Being the wonderful and kind brother that I am, I “allow” him to let me use his monitor to help with my dual monitor addiction, in exchange for my helping him pay for whatever it is that he wants. Life is good. Productivity is on the rise. Now, if only I could get rid of these distractions …

Daily Thought: Distraction

by Jeremy on May.18, 2006, under Daily Thoughts

In order to make sure I get some blogging in every day, I’ve decided to do a little thing I like to call the “Daily Thought” … This is just some (possibly random) thought process that I think is noteworthy enough to put up here. It’s possible that there could be a whole bunch of these in a single day. ;)

It is 8:41 AM, at the time of writing. I’ve only been up for a couple of hours and I’ve already had eighteen distractions. Yes, I counted. Eighteen. Something tells me this day does not bode well for work…

An American Haunting

by Jeremy on May.18, 2006, under Uncategorized

The other night, Samantha and I went to go see An American Haunting. I suck at movie reviews, so I’ll just say this:

This is the first “horror” movie that I’ve ever almost fallen asleep in the middle of the movie.

For those of you who don’t take subtlties well… It sucked. Have a nice day.

Mother’s Day

by Jeremy on May.14, 2006, under Uncategorized

Before I let this one slip away, I’d like to remind all of you who celebrate it, that today is Mother’s Day. I appreciate my mother for all the support she’s given me in my endeavors with my job at Completely Unique and for the support she’s given me in the rekindling of my relationship with Samantha.

Now, if I can just get her to leave me be during the day so I can work. ;)

I love my mother. And I’m going to miss her when I get to Colorado. Happy Mother’s Day.

New Articles

by Jeremy on May.14, 2006, under General Ramblings

I’m working on some new articles that will essentially be the “return of Privett on PHP” but they will all be housed under this Blog. If anyone might’ve happened to saved the articles that were on PoPHP before and could send them to me, I’d really appreciate it. Also, feel free to leave me a note on articles that you might want to see.

A Rough Start

by Jeremy on May.12, 2006, under Uncategorized

A couple of you should know that I went on a date with Samantha, last night. For those of you who don’t … well, I did. The night got off to a pretty rocky start with me running late because my mother took my little brother to get some dinner right before I was supposed to leave to go pick her up. So, I was about a half-hour late picking her up. And as they say, things always get worse, before they get better …

Dual Monitor, Double Productivity

by Jeremy on May.06, 2006, under Uncategorized

I’ve been borrowing my brother’s monitor for the past couple of days to see how well I could manage a dual monitor setup with my laptop, and just from the first day I was already in love. It is really great to be able to code on my laptop and Alt+Tab to my browser on the monitor right next to it and then just hit Ctrl+R to refresh. And if I’m really feeling froggy, I just set Firefox to auto-refresh every sixty seconds or so, and just keep saving my work as I go. Constantly being able to see what you’re changing without having to look away from your code makes it really easy to stay on task and not get distracted. I definitely recommend a second monitor to any of you programmers who might be reading this. Heck, I recommend it to anyone who might not be so good at multi-tasking. ;)
