I was waiting for the results of the entrance / placement exam to come back, before I put anything up. But, after doing some head-hunting, some research, poking around at my options, comparing schools, and making a firm decision on what I can do based on my work schedule, I’ve decide to go back to College. I’ll be attending DeVry University in mostly night and online courses. I just got an e-mail from the Admissions Advisor:
Hey Jeremy!
I just wanted to let you know that you ARE as smart as we thought.
You did awesome on your test. CONGRATS!
See you tomorrow for FA!

I understand the whole “equal opportunity employer” thing, but please … For the love of all that’s good in this world, save your customers their sanity by ensuring that you hire people that can actually understand normal spoken English. Being able to have someone say “I’ll have a #10″ and them get it, but that’s ALL that they get, doesn’t cut it.
And another thing. Hire people that can READ. If that little screen says this order has a certain number of item x and drink y, dangit I better have a certain number of item x in my bag you better be handing me drink y when I get to the window. As a former fast-food employee, I find this insulting, because I worked at a store where the employees were not quite this incompetent. You’re giving those of us who do understand English and can read a bad name.
Please stop.

Don’t be extremist to the point that you put people off. Having your own individual views is one thing, pushing them on to another person who clearly doesn’t believe what you do, is another. People have different opinions. It’s what makes us unique as individuals. But, taking what should be a philosophical viewpoint and creating a religion out of it is just defeating the purpose now, isn’t it?

Oh, after about only three freaking weeks, I finally have my laptop back … And man is it good to be back on a machine that has more than just 512 MB of (shared — so it doesn’t even come out to that much physical system memory) RAM.
I’ve got a lot of stuff to setup, so I’m cutting this short. Hopefully, Ruzena or I will blog more soon.
