Daily Thought: Frontal Cranial Explosion

by Jeremy on Jan.28, 2007, under Daily Thoughts

If I see or hear one more person say something along the lines of “PHP is not suitable for enterprise development” with absolutely nothing to back this claim up, one more time … I think I’m going to have multiple aneurysms and the pressure that will build up in my frontal lobe will cause a massive explosion capable of sending skull fragments careening through solid titanium.

This is ridiculous, people. If you’re going to say something so absurd, at least have the common courtesy to come up with something to back it up with. So people like me aren’t consistently smashing our faces against nearby hard objects in an attempt to erase the stupidity you just injected into our minds.

I would appreciate it. Thanks.

Thinking About Certification: Take Two

by Jeremy on Dec.31, 2006, under Uncategorized

A little over a year ago, I posted that I was thinking about certification on Omega Vortex’s Development Blog. The blog itself is gone now, but you can find an archive of that entry here.

With 2006 drawing to a close, I think I’m going to start 2007 with a nice upgrade to my current (PHP 4) Certification. Now that I’ve migrated completely to PHP 5 Development and feel much more comfortable in all the topics covered on the exam, it’s about time I go ahead and get the Certification under my belt, I think. I’ve already purchased the voucher, the study guide is on its way, and I’ve also got a voucher for the practice exam that I intend to use before I go in to take the actual exam.

Luckily, the closest test center to where I live now is only twelve minutes away, instead of the 1+ hour(s) of driving I had to do to take the previous exam, back in February.

Well, here’s hoping I pass. I’m feeling … rather confident.

Daily Thought: Proud

by Jeremy on Aug.01, 2006, under Daily Thoughts

I’m a guy who thinks you should always be proud of your accomplishments. And I think one of the bigger steps in my career was starting to work at Completely Unique. Heck, that pretty much is my career, now. Well, when I got on-board the CU Team, I was given the opportunity to take the Zend PHP Certification Exam. I passed. As such, the ZCE Button is up at the top right corner of the blog, again.

I also intend to take the PHP 5 Certification exam they’re working on, as well. Not to mention any other certification exam I feel comfortable spending the money on. Here’s to passing the PHP 5 version.

Edit: By the way, I took the Exam back in February. So, congratulations now aren’t necessary. ;) Also, you can now click the button up top to view my ZCE Page on Zend Technologies’ website.
